Sabr, Shukr, Akhlaque, Imaan, and Ilm. These five attributes are enough to guarantee that you and your significant other can establish and flourish in a happy partnership, even in the face of external disruptions. Continue reading to see why these attributes are crucial for both spouses to possess:
1. Akhlaque :-
Although it's difficult to translate akhlaque accurately, it essentially relates to temperament and character. It is referred to as a "virtue ethics" approach that places a strong emphasis on moral virtue. It therefore includes every quality of a good character, such as humility, charity, and honesty.
Spending a lifetime with someone who lacks qualities that are essential to all human relationships is unthinkable. Recall that Allah values acts of kindness far more than material prosperity or physical attractiveness.
2. Sabr :-
Any relationship that lacks the patience of its partners or members to consider all options, make concessions when necessary, and persevere until the harm is beyond repair is doomed to collapse.
Our money and health, our marriage to our partner and kids, our rizq and iman—all of these will be put to the test. All of these come from Allah, the Almighty and the Most Gracious. We believers endure these trials because Allah has promised us good news both here on Earth and in the Hereafter.
3. Shukr :-
Because it is all a part of His bigger plan, our Rabb has given us ease and comfort in this world together with hardships and afflictions. Gratitude reduces our haughtiness and blunts our conceit. Our whims and impulses sometimes lead us astray, and we have a tendency to be ungracious. However, constant Shukr to The Rabb, The Benevolent reminds us of why we are here on this Duniya.
4. Imaan :-
The word "imaan" refers to faith or belief in the unseen. It can be a source of support and direction when disagreements arise from miscommunications, which happens frequently, particularly in the early years of a marriage.
Our faith deepens as we recall Allah more. Through our prayers, we keep Allah in mind. Through prayer, we can let go of our grudges, think back on our transgressions, extend forgiveness to others, and build the fortitude to face adversity.
5. Ilm :-
In its widest extent, knowledge is referred to by the term Ilm. It encompasses not just gaining knowledge (religious and secular), but also applying that understanding to one's behavior. Knowledge is "something that is beyond mere understanding," in the words of Sayyid Qutb. In actuality, it is the mind's complete awareness and understanding of a certain subject, connected to the soul and conscience through interconnection, and ultimately realized via acts.
Understanding casts off ignorance, which keeps the partners from misinterpreting and communicating with one another. In addition, curiosity fosters a never-ending process of learning more about one another and the fundamentals of a relationship. After all, maintaining a non-toxic relationship requires maturity and open-mindedness. Ultimately, discernment and morality assist the marriage in staying on the correct course.
Nobody is flawless. The strength of one's Imaan, the degree of their Sabr and Shukr, and other aspects are mostly determined by factors like upbringing, culture, background, etc. What counts is continuing to work toward improving oneself and encouraging others to do the same.
